BA (Hons) Criminology

 

The Criminology program critically examines crime and the criminal justice system, emphasizing social justice. Students join a diverse learning community to explore various crimes and societal harms. Key topics of discussion include whether crime is shaped by social factors or individual psychology, how law enforcement impacts different community groups, the roles of punishment and prisons, and the best approaches to addressing youth violence.

The program offers interactive classroom sessions, supplemented by field trips to courts and prisons, and presentations by guest speakers, including former prisoners, police officers, prison staff, magistrates, activists, and esteemed academics.
